Friday, August 16, the Red Devil varsity and JV squads will participate in scrimmages against teams from Green Bay Southwest, Marinette, and Denmark. Here’s what you need to know:
Players are to meet at East High School at 7:00 AM. They will be transported to and from the scrimmages at Southwest.
VARSITY SCRIMMAGES
Location: Dahlin Family Stadium
9:00: Warmups begin. East will warmup on JV Field 2 on baseball diamond (see picture below).
9:50: Teams transition to their first scrimmage field. That’s the North Field for East.
10:00: Scrimmage 1 vs. Denmark begins on the North Field
Approx. 10:32: Scrimmage 2 vs. Marinette begins on North Field
Approx. 11:04: Scrimmage 3 vs. Green Bay Southwest begins on South Field
Approx. 11:36: Scrimmage ends
Scrimmage Format:
12 minutes (running clock) with Team A on Offense
3 minute transition
12 minutes (running clock) with Team B on Offense
5 minutes to transition to next scrimmage opponent
— Possession begins at the 40 yard line. All regular football rules apply from there, but the furthest the ball can go back is to the 40 yard line. Penalties will be assessed as normal.
— Coaches can be in the offensive and defensive back fields, but must make sure to stay back far enough and completely out of the way of officials and other live action.
— No Special Teams – let’s get as many plays and opportunities for kids as possible
— Coaches can alter scrimmage based on agreement from both coaches and officials (Ex. Take the last 5 minutes of a period to work specifically red zone)

Varsity Scrimmages will have full officiating crews on both the North and South Field. Varsity Scrimmages will have down box and chains on both the North and South Field.

Officials
Junior Varsity Scrimmages will try to have full officiating crews on both Field 1 and Field 2, but will have a minimum of 3 officials. Junior Varsity Scrimmages will not have down box and chains on Field 1 and Field 2. Officials and coaches will use their best judgment regarding 1st downs.
